Elmhurst wraps around Wilder Park and Elmhurst University, with neighborhoods ranging from century-old homes near downtown to post-war expansion areas south of the tracks. The city's west side drains toward Salt Creek, and flood events along that corridor have made drainage a civic priority — and a homeowner one.
